More Information

Now that I have cooled down a bit I realize that I have not given that much information on my truck.

2000 Silverado LS
4.8L V8 engine
Towing package (3.73 gears, trans cooler, oil cooler)
Limited Slip Differential
Short Bed, Regular Cab.

I had the transmission replaced at around 40k miles by the dealership.
The truck was not longer under warranty so I had to eat that bill.
At around 25k miles later the transmission is slipping and creating excessive heat.
I have taken the truck back to the dealer as the transmission is still under warranty and they currently have had the truck for about a week.

My concern is that the warranty on the new transmission will run out and I have no reason to believe that it will not simply fail on me again. I believe that this is a problem that many others have experienced and I have created this site so that we can all get together and see how widespread this problem really is.

It is my understanding that the HD trucks and 2500-3500 run a different transmission setup, but I am not sure.

Taking a minute to comment about your experiance will only help others in the same situation. If we work together we will have more bargaining power with GM to get the problem resolved.
